Multiple bids reported for Anglo Irish US loan book
It is reported that there has been much interest in the Anglo Irish US loan book with multiple bids from US private equity firms.
Blackstone with support from Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs is said to have bid. Likewise Cerberus working with Oaktree Capital and LNR property and also TPG with Lubert Adler and Pacific Investment may have bid. Centerbridge, Paulson & Co and AIG are reported as another syndicated bidder. Cerberus Capital and Colony Capital are reported to have submitted individual bids.
The total loan book is said to be of around $9.5bn and is the biggest loan portfolio sold in the US by a foreign bank. 42% of the loans are up to date with the remainder classified as non-performing or sub-performing. Final bids are expected by month end with a preferred buyer selected during September.
